Bob Bowman

Head Coach and Future CEO of the North Baltimore Aquatic Club

After the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing, Bowman will return to the North Baltimore Aquatic Club in Baltimore, Md where the plan is to have him take over the CEO role from Founder and current CEO, Murray Stephens.

Bob Bowman was the head coach of the University of Michigan Swimming Men's program, which he took over in 2004, until the start of the Olympic Trials in 2008. On April 1, 2004, Bob Bowman was hired as the eighth head coach of the Michigan men's swimming and diving program. With his acceptance to lead Michigan's storied program, Bowman made his first foray into the collegiate ranks following a successful career at the international and club levels.

Bowman led the Wolverines to three top eight finishes at the NCAA Championships and finished no lower than third at the Big Ten Conference Championships, including a second place showing in 2007 by a narrow margin of just four points. He coached three Wolverines to five NCAA individual titles: Olympic gold medalist Peter Vanderkaay (2005 and '06 500-yard freestyle), U.S. National champion Davis Tarwater (2005 and '06 200-yard butterfly) and current team captain Alex Vanderkaay (2007 400-yard individual medley). Entering the 2007-08 season, his collegiate coaching record stood at 20-7-1 overall and 13-1-1 in Big Ten meets.

Bowman has a slew of accolades to his credit. In February 2006, USA Swimming named him Team USA's head coach for the 2007 World Championships in Melbourne, Australia. He previously served as an assistant coach on the U.S. staff at the 2004 Olympic Games, and 2001, '03 and '05 World Championships. In 2006 and '07, he coached Michigan's club team, Club Wolverine, to the U.S. summer nationals team title.

Prior to coming to Michigan, Bowman was named an assistant coach on the 2004 U.S. Olympic Team, serving as the primary coach for Michael Phelps. At the 2004 Games, Bowman helped Phelps to an Olympic record eight medals, including six gold and two bronze.

Bowman served for nine years at the North Baltimore Aquatic Club in Baltimore, Md. He was the high performance coach from 1999-2004, working directly with the senior elite performance group including Phelps. Under Bowman's tutelage at the North Baltimore Aquatic club, Phelps won five World Championship gold medals and was named the American Swimmer of the Year in 2001 and '03. For his accomplishments with North Baltimore, Bowman won the USA Swimming and the American Swimming Coaches Association Coach of the Year Awards in 2001 and '03. He was also named the 2002 USA Swimming Developmental Coach of the Year. Bowman also held the position of senior coach at the North Baltimore Aquatic Club from 1996-99. During his tenure in Baltimore, Bowman helped produce three individual national champions, 10 national finalists and five U.S. National Team members.

From 1994-96, Bowman served as head coach for the Napa Valley swim team. There he was responsible for an elite senior program including U.S. National 'A', 'B' and Junior Team members. Under Bowman's watch, Napa Valley won six gold, two silver and two bronze medals in international competition.

Bowman was also the head coach and program director for the Birmingham Swim League from 1992-94. There he was responsible for program design, staff development and daily operation of a 250-member club. Under his supervision, BSL improved to a top five program regionally after finishing out of the top 20 the previous 10 years.

Prior to his position at BSL, Bowman held assistant coaching positions with the Napa Valley swim team (1991-92), Cincinnati Pepsi Marlins (1990-91) and the Las Vegas Gold swim team (1988-90).

In 1986-87, Bowman was the head age group coach at the Area Tallahassee Aquatic Club and served as an assistant coach at his alma mater Florida State. At FSU, he worked closely with the recruiting coordinator and helped develop a system of feedback and information for all practice and competitive results.

Bowman swam for the Seminoles from 1983-85, serving as a team captain in his final year. Bowman graduated from Florida State with a bachelor of science degree in developmental psychology and a minor in music composition in 1987.

Amy: "PureSport Recovery is an amazing post workout energy drink. After drinking PureSport Recovery, I feel refreshed, and my post workout energy level is higher. This is particularly beneficial when I have two-a-day multi-sport workouts. PureSport has everything you're looking for in a recovery drink. It has a little bit of whey protein isolate, electrolytes, antioxidents and a mix of natural sugars/carbohydrates. In addition to helping us recover...it tastes freakin' good!"

Madeleine McDuff

Junior National Velodrome Cycling Phenom

The 5-foot, 2-inch seventh grader practices three to four times a week for up to 50 miles. She works with her trainer, former National Cycling Champion and U.S. Team Member Garth Blackburn.

"Cycling is my life. With the dedication and sacrifice I make for my sport, being sore after a hard workout is something I really don't want or need at the age of 13 years old. I recently went on a search for a pre and post recovery product and I found one in PureSport! Results for me have been immediate since I pretty much cycle on a daily basis if not on the track..I'm on the road. The flavors they offer are awesome. My favorite way to drink them is to make an icy slush for after a hot ride and trust me, it gets hot in Texas!"
