Aaron Peirsol Spends Day with Dallas Stars

On the afternoon of March 20, 2010, the North Texas swimming community came together at the American Airlines Center in Dallas for an afternoon with World Record holder and 7-time Olympic Medalist Aaron Peirsol. A crowd of 200 of Aaron’s biggest fans gathered to hear him talk about persevering as a professional athlete, as well as the commitment he has made as a professional swimmer and a ocean

conservationist. Aaron discussed the trials and triumphs which he has faced as an Olympian and motivated the younger audience to commit to what they love even when faced with obstacles.

There was much discussion about Aaron’s “Race for the Oceans” and his personal commitment to the national advocacy group, Oceana. Aaron entertained a Q&A session and also discussed PureSport.

Directly following Aarons speech fans had the chance to gather on the main concourse of the arena to meet and get autographs from Aaron and learn more about PureSport. The PureSport table was exposed not only to the swimming community, but also to Dallas Stars fans there for that afternoon’s game. PureSport was given yet another opportunity to expose their product to another 17,000 Dallas Stars fan as our commercial was aired on one of the largest in-arena JumboTron’s during warm ups and directly before the start of the game. Aaron also had an in-game recognition in the first period directly following his “Race for the Oceans” spot which also aired live.

Not only was this a great opportunity for the swimming community to hear from Aaaro, but also for Dallas Stars fans to learn about PureSport and Aaron’s relationship to the product!

Crowd Welcomes Michael Phelps at Ross Park Mall

By Ralph Paulk, TRIBUNE-REVIEW
Sunday, September 27, 2009

Michael Phelps, who shattered seven world records en route to winning a record eight gold medals in the 2008 Beijing Games, was greeted Saturday morning by an estimated 600 fans during the opening of a new prototype GNC store at Ross Park Mall.

Nearly 200 fans positioned themselves at the store’s front entrance more than two hours before Phelps arrived to help promote a sports drink, PureSport. Phelps, a 14-time gold medalist, signed autographs for nearly two hours.

“With my workout program, I have to be at peace and have all the nutrients in my body,” Phelps said. “I had (PureSport) right after every race at the Olympics, then moved on to the next race and was ready to go.”

Phelps, too, continued to polish an image tarnished by a photo that showed him smoking from a marijuana pipe. The fallout from that incident led to USA Swimming suspending him for three months and it caused a major sponsor, Kellogg, to abandon him shortly after he appeared on the cover of its Corn Flakes box.

“Everybody goes through some really tough times in their lives, and I think it depends on how you battle back from those,” Phelps said. “Nothing comes easy, and the harder you work the harder it gets.”

PureSport, though, refused to sever its relationship with Phelps. They committed to honoring a deal he signed with PureSport prior to the Beijing Games.

“We made the deal with Michael eight months before the Beijing Olympics,” said PureSport CEO Michael Humphrey. “He trained with the products for about a year before he went to the Olympics.

“We never even thought about severing our ties with Michael. My thing with Michael is that he has to be smart about the decisions he makes and we’ll be smart about the decisions we make.”

The developers of PureSport consulted with Phelps’ coach Bob Bowman in hopes of creating a sports drink specifically designed for the U.S. Olympic swim team before the company was formalized.

“It’s great having Michael using our product,” Humphrey said, “but you don’t have to be an Olympic athlete to train and feel better.”

PURESPORT ATHLETES PHELPS AND LIUKIN NAMED ATHLETES OF THE YEAR AT 2009 ESPY AWARDS

Pure Coincidence or PureSport? Olympic-Gold-Medal-Winning Athletes Call PureSport Key to their Success

Austin, Texas (July 17, 2009) – PureSport, makers of the new, patent-pending performance drinks that are revolutionizing the sports drink category, announced today that 14-time Olympic gold medalist, Michael Phelps, and Olympic all-around gymnastics champion, Nastia Liukin, both of whom train with PureSport, have received the 2009 ESPY Award for Best Male and Best Female Athlete, respectively. The 2009 ESPY Awards will air on ESPN on Sunday, July 19.

Is the fact that two PureSport-drinking athletes were named the best athletes in the world pure coincidence? Or could PureSport be the new “special sauce” in athletic performance?

Michael Humphrey, CEO of PureSport, says it’s no coincidence at all. “There’s a reason Michael and Nastia chose to train for the Beijing Olympics with PureSport and there’s a reason why they had the best athletic performances in the world last year. PureSport is the most scientifically-sound and effective sports drink in the world and it helps athletes get more out of their performances.”

“PureSport played an integral role in my success in Beijing,” says Phelps, who helped develop the drink in 2007 with Dr. John Ivy, chair of the Department of Kinesiology and Health Education at the University of Texas at Austin. “PureSport’s recovery drink helped me race at peak levels day after day at the Olympics. It makes a huge difference in terms of reducing muscle tissue damage and soreness and promoting muscle repair.”

“I’ve been training with PureSport since before Beijing and it’s made a huge difference in my endurance level,” says Liukin. “I also love that it tastes great, has no caffeine and has about half the calories of other sports drinks.”

According to Humphrey, the secret to PureSport is its 2.67-to-1 carbohydrate-to-protein ratio, which has been tested rigorously and is proven to be the ideal ratio for muscle performance.

“PureSport has been the game changer in the sports drink category,” says Humphrey. “Gold medalists will tell you, it’s the new gold standard in performance drinks.”

Once available only to coaches and athletes, PureSport is now available nationwide at Sports Authority, Max Muscle, GNC and Vitamin Shoppe stores and online at www.puresport.com. Prices range from $24.99 for a carton (10 packets) or canister (11 servings) of the PureSport Recovery Formula to $49.99 for a canister (36 servings) of the PureSport Workout Formula.

Interviews with Michael Phelps (after the World Championships in Rome), Nastia Liukin, Dr. Ivy and PureSport CEO, Michael Humphrey, available upon request.

PureSport tees up global endorsement deal with LPGA star Angela Stanford

HAVRE DE GRACE, Md. -- PureSport, makers of the new, science-based and patent-pending performance drinks that have revolutionized the sports drink category, announced today that it has signed an endorsement agreement with Angela Stanford, who is currently ranked seventh worldwide in women's professional golf.

Stanford, who has been training with PureSport for several months with great results, now has 12 top-ten finishes in 15 starts dating back to September 2008, including three victories. She shared third place Sunday in the LPGA State Farm Classic.

Under the terms of the deal, Stanford will join PureSport's unparalleled list of brand ambassadors - elite athletes including Olympians Michael Phelps, Brendan Hansen, Aaron Peirsol and Nastia Liukin - to build global awareness for PureSport and the benefits that come with training with the product.

Stanford will also work with Liukin on a special effort to educate female athletes about the importance of training with PureSport to improve endurance, reduce muscle tissue damage and promote muscle tissue repair.

"PureSport is the most scientifically-sound performance drink on the market, and I'm thrilled to be part of the team they've chosen to help them spread the word," said Stanford. "This product works like nothing I've tried before and I love that it tastes great, has no caffeine or added sugar and has about half the calories of other sports drinks."

Created by Dr. John Ivy, chair of the Department of Kinesiology and Health Education at the University of Texas at Austin, PureSport's secret is in its 2:67-to-1 carbohydrate-to-protein ratio, which has been scientifically proven to be the ideal ratio for muscle performance.

Stanford trains five days a week and drinks PureSport Workout before each training session and PureSport Recovery within 30 minutes of completing each workout. Grape is Stanford's favorite flavor.

"This deal links Angela, who is one of the most exciting, up-and-coming female golfers in the world, with the most exciting, new sports performance drink on the market," said Eddie Smith of Gaylord Sports, which represents Stanford. "It's an ideal partnership."

"We're thrilled to have Angela on the PureSport team," says Michael Humphrey, CEO of PureSport. "Like all our athlete ambassadors, Angela trains with the product and has experienced first-hand the benefits of the product. She's in the best possible position to help us get the word out about the science we're bringing to the sports drink category."

Brandon & Amy Marsh take top spots at 2009 PureSport Rookie Triathlon

May 10, 2009 (New Braunfels, Texas) – The 6th annual PureSport Rookie Triathlon, held May 10th in New Braunfels, Texas, saw professional triathlete husband and wife team Brandon and Amy Marsh take first place overall for the men and women, respectively. Brandon Marsh fought off a hard charging field of pro and athletes while Amy Marsh cruised to victory with a comfortable margin.  Both athletes use PureSport during their training and racing.  Roughly 800 participants filled the venue at the Texas Ski Ranch for fun-filled day of swimming, cycling, and running.

The gun went off at 8 AM sharp on what would turn into a very hot and humid day.  As usual, the open wave included virtually all of central Texas’s male elite athletes, including Brandon Marsh, James Bonney, Jamie Cleveland, James Bales, Jason McMillian, Derrick Williamson, Patrick Evoe, Todd Gerlach, and Paul Terranova.  Amy Marsh had less company in the women’s field, with Desiree Ficker and Andrea Fisher on volunteer duty for the day.  The pros and age groupers laid down some speed at the super sprint distance of a 300 meter open-water swim, an 11 mile ride through the beautiful Texas countryside, and a quick 2 mile run.

Participants, volunteers, and spectators were welcomed into finish line carnival with an iced towel and recovery drink from PureSport.  The goodies continued with hamburgers, fresh fruit provided by Texas Iron, Kook Kones ice cream, New Belgium Beer, free massage from Advanced Rehab, and a souvenir bike bottle from T3, and gifts from TYR, Trigger Point, Clif, Skeese Greets, and Jack & Adam’s Bicycles.

High Five Events and Jack & Adam’s Bicycles, the producers of the event, received many compliments on the successful event, including the following from a long time participant and volunteer:  “I've been coming to these events for many years. After each event I think that you have pulled off the perfect race.  Then, I come again next year and the event is even more perfect.  I don't know how you guys do it!"

The 2009 event is tentatively scheduled for Mother Day, May 9th.

Beverage World: PureSport Attracts Gold - Friday, 20 March 2009

PureSport Attracts Gold
Friday, 20 March 2009

PureSport, a patent-pending performance drink, is continuing its rise from Olympian's secret weapon to mainstream sports drink with a number of distribution, athlete, product and personnel announcements, the brand recently announced.

Brendan Hansen, the world-record holding swimmer who won gold in Beijing, is taking a break from 15 years in the international world of competitive swimming to join PureSport as director of training and performance, according to the company. In his new position, Hansen will be responsible for building the company's relationships with athletes, trainers, coaches and sports clubs.

"I've been training with PureSport for the last two years and believe so much in the product that I've decided to put my swimming career on hold to do what I can to spread the word about PureSport," says Hansen. "I'm excited about this new challenge and intend to approach it with the same work ethic and commitment to excellence that I’ve applied to my career in swimming."

Launched in July 2008, Pure Sport took center stage at the Beijing Olympics thanks to Olympic gold medalists Michael Phelps, Brendan Hansen, Ian Crocker, Aaron Peirsol and Nastia Liukin, all of whom made public the key role that PureSport played in their Olympic training programs.

"What I love most about what we've built is that we're a tight group and our athletes are real product ambassadors, not hired marketing guns," says Michael Humphrey, CEO of PureSport. "Every one of them trains with PureSport and has experienced first-hand the product’s ability to help them perform at peak levels."

To meet the growing consumer demand for the product, PureSport has signed a national distribution deal with Sports Authority, a full-line sporting goods chain, as well as online outlets including SwimOutlet.com and NutritionExpress.com.

Until now, PureSport, which has enjoyed a cult-like following among professional athletes, coaches and trainers, had been available primarily through the company's website.

PureSport also has inked exclusive product training deals with a range of top athletes including Ryan Powell, the nation's top-ranked lacrosse player; soccer star, Kenny Cooper Jr.; triathletes Brandon Marsh and Amy Marsh; and NFL player Bernard Berrian of the Minnesota Vikings, according to the company.

"I kept hearing a buzz about PureSport and thought, I've gotta try this stuff, so I did. And let me tell you, it really works—it makes a huge difference in terms of reducing post-workout muscle fatigue and soreness," said Berrian. "I'm thrilled to be part of the PureSport team."

PureSport's secret is in its patent-pending formulation, which boasts a 2:67-to-1 protein-to-carbohydrate ratio, which is optimal for muscle performance and recovery. The product also has no caffeine, no added sugar and about half the calories of other sports drinks, which has made it popular with those watching calories.

In other news, PureSport has earned registration with Informed-Sport, a leading, independent supplement testing program that registers products that they have tested and proven to be free of substances prohibited by the WADA, the World Anti-Doping Agency.

"We're honored by the designation," says Humphrey. "PureSport is as clean a drink as they come, which is why athletes, trainers and coaches love it so much."

But PureSport is quickly gaining a following among non-athletes as well. According to Humphrey, the company has received calls from safety directors at corporations who want to buy PureSport for their industrial workers.

Humphrey says he's not surprised by the growing popularity of the product and the company's growth.

"It's clean, it tastes great and it works," says Humphrey. "It's performance in a bottle whether you're competing in a world-class sporting event, working out in the gym, doing yoga, recovering from the flu or cleaning out your garage."
